As a former Alumni of ELSS and having known Mr. Dixon personally,
I can truthfully say that Patton would have been impressed with Ernie
Dixon. He never gave up the goal. He left the comfort of Eastern Ontario
to build from scratch a whole school system. It was an uphill battle
filled with political mountains to climb, physical cliffs to scale and
great personal sacrifice... all for the dream of having a great High
School filled with top notch students. |

This was the beginning of our school. In this pool hall,
barbershop and snack bar was the birth of ELSS. In the book "As it
Happened", Catharine Dixon takes us through this pioneering spirit
with incredible obstacles constantly hindering the path.
This is a story of love. Giving love. Honorable love. Some of this is
... you! |

that became the world leader in uranium production.
The town of Elliot Lake (Hirshhorn City) was a force that couldn't be
stopped despite a few shortsighted and political minded locals.
